About Matt

Matt Nepsa grew up amid in the cornfields, steel mills and the rust belt suburbs of Northwest Indiana, not far from the shores of Lake Michigan, the Indiana Dunes and the city of Chicago. A lifelong artist with an obsession with all things vintage, his work is largely inspired by midcentury sci-fi/horror/crime pulp, comics, illustration and pop culture. He studied printmaking at Indiana University and earned a BFA in painting and printmaking at the University of Illinois at Chicago. He relocated with his family to the Seattle area in the early 00’s where he’s enjoyed a digital art and design career in the games and software industries. In recent years he’s left the ever-shifting tech world behind, discovered a love for sculpting and decorating in ceramics and has returned to the studio full time as an affiliate artist at Rain City Clay.
